Today we decided to do the long trip to the Calanques. It was incredibly windy but still sunny. We headed to Cassis and drove around a bit trying to find them (badly signposted). When we finally found them we realised they were closed due to high fire risk with the high winds. So that was disappointing. We ended up parking and having lunch at a little stony bay nearby, which Carly loved! Pretty much every lunchtime consisted of a picnic of baguette, ham, cheese and tomato and the occasional “crispme” … Carly’s word for a “chipies” according to Mummy and “crisps” according to Daddy (poor child’s confused). Very naughty but holidays are naughty times, aren’t they? We then headed to Aix-en-Provence and had a wander around there. Another nice French town … but to be honest, it’s the outdoorsy stuff that we like best.
